Christmas continued at Mom and Dad's house for luch and opening of gifts. My sister and brother in law, niece and her boyfriend, and nephew were all there. Ella was overwhelmed and tired by the end of the day and Delaney slept through the whole thing. She never even made it out of her carseat! Brittney, Abby, and Caroline had a great time opening more gifts as well.
Ella is obsessed with three things: shoes, hair, and Hannah Montana. She sings or wants us to see HM songs all the time, she watches the video and TV show and the big girls find her HM videos on You Tube. She also wears pom poms on her head or long necklaces on her ears to simulate the long hair she obiously wishes she had. So the Hannah Montana wig we found would be a perfect gift we thought. She opened it and was excited about the packaging, but when the wig came out she was scared of it. Brittney put it in herself and then she began to get the idea and gave it a try.
Delaney got up first, or so I thought. It turns out Caroline and Abigail were up in the middle of the night checking out their stuff. About 8:30 I got up with Delaney, then Ella woke up about 9. I kept asking her if she wanted to go see if anything was under the tree, but she was happy playing with her baby sister for awhile. Finally Abby came in and took her out to the tree and one by one the rest of the family got up to open presents. Ella loved ripping the packages open and seemed to enjoy all her presents. I think everyone had a good morning.
We celebrated Christmas Eve with Jean and Bruce at our house again this year. The big girls got a laptop which was a big surprise for them. Now we don't have to fight over computer time quite so much and they can use a computer that is fast. The desktop we have is quite a few years old and very slow! They had begun to take over my laptop so the new one will make us all happy! Ella had a great time opening gifts and even got a toy laptop of her own. Delaney was her usual mellow self and just sat in her bouncy seat watching all off the action.
Yesterday we tackled the mall and various other retail establishments to finish our shopping. I ventured out with four kids in tow(Brittney had swim practice) and was determined to finish. Eight hours later I could say I accomplished that. Ella had a few meltdowns, Abby and Caroline had several fights, and Delaney slept through it all except for eating and diaper changing. We even tackled the loooong Santa line. When I got in this line I thought it didn't look too bad, but it just never seemed to go anywhere. There was a carosel near by and Ella was occupied with that so we decided to wait it out. An hour and twenty minutes later Ella decided it was better to see Santa from afar. Delaney however was perfectly happy to sit on Santa's lap.
A friend of mine gave Delaney a set of the cutest Christmas socks when she was born. The even stretched to fit Ella so they both have looked like cute little elves in them. I found them matching outfits from Hannah Annderson to complete the look. We're thinking we can stretch the usage at least through Valentines day! My girls all have small feet so we think these will come out again next year!
The day after Thanksgiving I spend my time putting up the tree and decorating the house. We have one artificial in the front living room and one real tree in the family room. The real tree was up and undecorated for a week and a half before I got to that one this year. Amazingly Ella has stayed away from all the breakables. She's been really good, no breakage except for the few I dropped while juggling a baby!
